Commercialization is a word which evokes ambivalence not in every sphere of human life. But talk of sporting events and there you are. Debates have shrouded over this topic ever since the business of enchasing entertainment began. Let them do the talking as long as we are able to keep the spirit of fun and entertainment intact and march ahead on the subject of sports event ticket and the ways to grab them.

Sports, since the days of yore has been seen as an underlying source of live entertainment. The air of uncertainty, sense of excitement and spirit of passion make sporting events a true crowd puller and one can not deny the fact that in certain countries some sports and the events hosting them enjoy a much elated status so much so that the level of expectation may cause breakdown or under performance for a few sport stars. Sporting events are arguably one of the most rewarding and followed event entertainment.

If this is how sports and the events are performing, for sports aficionados, the arrangement of sports event ticket leaves a big question to be answered. Days before the D-day, tickets are completely sold and in case the event is hyped, this figure could go up to weeks. In this scenario Internet comes to the rescue of fans.

There are many websites flooding the web these days who offer sports event tickets without much fretting out and generally prove to be cost effective as these websites offer discounts and cashbacks to boost their sales figure. Easily available tickets have already given these websites a yielding launching pad and they are all set to soar as their business is entwined with entertainment which was, is and shall be quintessential to human life.

When planning an event, it has to be memorable. It should also be entertaining and if possible educational as well. When the event is for charity these factors are of utmost importance. So how does an event incorporate these? Well, each aspect should be dealt with individually. You should discuss on what can be done to have an entertaining event. Similarly the things that can be done to have an educational event should be discussed. Likewise, you should highlight features that could make an event memorable and unforgettable.
Let’s take education first. You first have to identify the purpose of the charity. It should be everywhere. This can be done in a few ways. You can make it educational and place stands or other show pieces around the event location like in a display. Else random facts can be displayed around and have you guests ponder over them. Screening a short movie or a documentary about the event will have people understanding first hand about the actual stage of events and why your guests should lend a helping hand. You could give a speech with the assistance of some visual aids and explain things. These all are fabulous ideas to get your event educational and explanatory.
But if all you are looking for is just entertainment, then you could get a band or some other performance at your event. This could be an expensive option though. If the event is a charity, then it’s best to have a mixture of both the entertainment and educational elements together. You should identify ways like plays or some other forms of art to educate while entertaining your guests. You will never know about your creative abilities until the point when you create a mixture between entertainment and education. You will be filled with ideas to the brim and you will have great success in that regard. You have to just ensure that the entertainment is fun and totally clean.
While pondering over the details on mixing the entertainment and the education, you could add a few interesting details into the fray. Bringing in some celebrities or maybe a fireworks display will surely have your guests excited and have memories for quite some time to come. There needn’t be any celebrities at all. Things can be made special by the selection of unique venues. The addition of unique and special details to the event is a very good idea and will make the whole event stand out. There are many options to make a party seem unique and remarkable. Some activities should be done so as to have some creative juices flowing and make a really good impression with the guests. Something really special should be added to the mixture so that everyone would feel good and be willing to put in huge donations towards the charity.
When information has to be included, any information that may be entertaining or shocking or just plain fun may be added. You will mostly hit your target and even do better than what you might have expected. You will surely obtain happiness from the end results of the whole event. The tough segment will be the process of getting ideas initially. But it will be simple too if you took some time off and planned the whole thing properly. You should think of everything possible to ensure that everything runs perfectly well. So you will have to be completely organized such that any required information will be available as and when required. Your event will turn out to be great when you put in the right amount of effort and get things going.

The Good, The Bad And The Indifferent (Entertainment)

Sounds like the title of a spaghetti western, and to be honest, it probably over the years has had as many casualties. So what am I talking about? The answer is bad entertainment.

I think most of us can relate to either a personal experience or the experience of a friend, to how the focal point of an event ruined it. The entertainment at an event is probably the most crucial part, if you don’t include inviting the guests, and when it goes wrong everyone notices. Just the other day I was in a conversation and was told about how a DJ failed to turn up at an event, that event being a wedding, and how despite repeated phone calls no one could contact the party involved. This basically ruined what should have been the best day of two peoples lives, a real shame as everything else had gone so smoothly. This is something not just confined to private events, it can also effect corporate ones too. Imagine planning a corporate event, your colleagues will be there, perhaps someone high up within the company is flying in from abroad, or you are trying to make a good impression on future clients and seal a deal worth a lot of money. Everything is in place, or so you think, then out of the blue….. nothing, no entertainment. Panic sets in, but in the end there is little you can do, it is too late. Of course the entertainment can arrive, but still let you down. A band in jeans and T shirts at a black tie corporate event, the wrong music, there are so many aspects that to list them all would become boring for those of you reading this.

So what is the solution you ask? The best solution is to use an entertainment agency. Allow me to explain. At one time all UK entertainment agencies had to be licensed, which is no longer the case, however all entertainment agencies are required to comply with the employment agencies act and it’s amendments. This gives you, the client, legal recourse, which you can exercise if, need be. Some entertainment agencies are members of professional bodies such as The Agents Association or the NEAC (National Entertainment Agents Council), if they are then these should be your first point of contact if you have a problem, which you cannot resolve. Both organisations have a code of conduct for members and also have a disciplinary process available. If an agency is not a member of either, and the complaint is serious enough, then you can make a complaint to the DBERR, formally the DTI, who have powers to act against and impose severe sanctions on rogue agencies.

I am sure there are people reading this who are saying to themselves, is this just a plug to get business, the answer is no. Although I run an entertainment agency, I am not saying that everyone should use our services, people should and do have a choice. I am saying make sure you use a reputable entertainment agency, of which there are many. So what can you expect from a reputable entertainment agency, the first is a high level of service, professional people to source entertainment to your needs. The second, if something goes wrong, a reputable agency will do its best to put it right. Third, legally binding contracts between the parties involved.

Now I am sure there are some people saying, I have a contract for my DJ/Band, he/they sent me one, or I always use an agency and have a contract. My question to those people is “IS IT LEGAL”? Just because you have a contract doesn’t mean that it is legal or that in a dispute it will hold up in court. Always make sure that any contract you have complies with the law. If in doubt always ask the person issuing it, or take independent legal advice. The good news is that a legal contract is everybody’s safeguard, and it will detail all the requirements, so you can rest easy knowing that everything is covered.

So in conclusion, to make your event memorable for all the right reasons:
Always use a reputable agency, to avoid the bad or the indifferent, and just enjoy the good.
